Hexagrams and the Chinese Book of Transformations on which the map is based

The Book of Changes is based on 64 hexagrams—symbolic structures consisting of six lines (whole or broken) that express dynamic states of change. This system works like an ancient binary code, in which each state is born from the interplay between Yin (reception, softness, internality) and Yang (action, power, externality). In a parallel and surprising way, the genetic code of DNA and RNA also works according to a similar principle:

64 codons — sequences of three bases from four letters (A, U, C, G) — create the entire language of life:

• 60 codons code for 20 amino acids
• One codon (AUG) marks the start
• Three codons (UAG, UGA, UAA) mark termination
